Lao DPR Community Consultation in preparation of RAI3 Funding Request was held in Vientiane, Laos on 16 January 2020 through a coordinated effort from the Laos Steering Committee members; Lao Positive Health Association, Population Education and Development Association, and Health Poverty Action. A total of 53 participants including The Centre for Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (CMPE), World Health Organization (WHO), Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCM), Laos RAI and non-RAI CSO partners, The Global Fund representative, RAI RSC secretariat, Regional and Laos consultant for RAI3 Funding request, UNOPS PR, RAI RSC CSO representative, RAI RSC CSO alternate representative, CSO platform secretariat, Thailand CSO representative, and village malaria workers at the community level which represent southern provinces of Laos joined and discussed in the community consultation. The main objectives of the consultation include:
- To collect suggestions from community representatives and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for the Global Fund RAI 3 Funding request 2021-2023 based on the recommendations from previous consultations
- To discuss representation from the CSOs/Community to participate and share outcomes of CSO consultation in RAI3 country dialogue
During the consultation, the CSO partners and community representatives discussed the six priority areas for CSO collaboration including community response for Vivax case, targeting high-risk populations, integrated community case management, community surveillance, community rights and gender, and cross border intervention for RAI3 country dialogue with the guidance of global fund, regional consultant, RAI RSC CSO representative, and UNOPS PR. The outcome of the community consultation will be shared in Laos malaria dialogue on 17 January 2020.
