Malaria CSO partners Population Services International – Myanmar and Cambodia #SMRU Thailand #CHD Vietnam #HPA in Lao PDR shared the update situation of malaria services from the field at the virtual meeting on COVID-19 impact on RAI2E organized by RAI RSC on 12 May.
According to partners sharing, case management activity has been reduced by the movement restriction on Thailand and Myanmar border because lesser people are visiting the facilities. Community engagement following government guidance is ongoing in Vietnam. HPA closely supervises the volunteer because of the growing anxiety of volunteers to test fever cases. There was no issue with the supply chain of drugs and RDT at the central level in Cambodia. The session was moderated by the RAI RSC CSO representative Louis Da Gama. Despite challenges, CSO partners are working closely with national programs, WHO, and UNOPS to avoid interruption of services.
The overall discussion on the session clearly highlights the urgent need to provide adequate PPE on the malaria service providers including community volunteer to sustain the provision of malaria services during the pandemic.
